Dear Friends of Immaculate Conception,
In light of the unprecedented decision by the bishops of Ohio to suspend public Masses and liturgies through Easter, I want to let you know what is planned for our parish. I will offer Mass daily for the intentions listed in the bulletin. These Masses will be private, and will not be streamed or recorded. I will offer these Masses also for the intentions of our parish and for an end to this pandemic. I will offer Sunday Mass sometime on the weekend and this will be recorded and made available on our website. Please let others know about this, as it is a way to keep our parish united at the Altar during these difficult times. Streamed Masses are available at www.Mass-online.org. Click on Holy Mass in English, and you will find many Masses from the English-speaking world. Holy Communion will not be brought to our nursing care facilities, the hospital, nor home-bound parishioners. I invite you to make a spiritual communion. A good prayer for this from St. Alphonsus Ligouri is:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
I will continue to offer the Sacrament of Penance at the times listed in the bulletin. I invite those who wish to come to spread out in the church before and after and also to use the option of confessing behind the screen.
All other devotions (exposition, stations of the cross, etc.) are also cancelled. The church will be open for private prayer during office hours and as long as the office remains open. Again, please follow the guidelines of our state and country if you choose to visit.
We will continue to publish our bulletin and this will be available on-line.
Obviously, this crises also affects our offertory. Please consider mailing your donation, giving on-line through the donate link, or setting up an automatic deposit. We also plan to have the reverse raffle, even if there is no dinner/gathering. If it is without a dinner, we will record the drawing and post it on our site. Our expenses will continue, so please do continue to be generous and do please consider buying an extra ticket or two.
These are indeed difficult and unprecedented times. Let us all continue to pray for each other and for an end to this pandemic. Mary Immaculate, pray for us!
Fr. Jonathan
