My Dear Parishioners,
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic churches have been exempt from the governor's mandates; however, churches are not exempt from the statewide mask mandate with the exception of folks with underlying health conditions which require that they not wear a mask. I am not going to be the mask police! If you know you have a condition then do not wear one -no questions asked!
Our principal, Mrs. Joy Tokarsky, and I have been filming a weekly update video on the procedures we've been implementing as we prepare to return to school. As tough as some of the decisions have been there is also a spirit of excitement knowing that our school will have students in it! I personally cannot wait to meet the kids and get to know them. It is my plan to be very regular part of the school at ICS. Fr. Jonathan told me he knew all the kids' names; I am up for the challenge!
As I mentioned in my homily last weekend, I would like to expand the confession times in order to make the sacrament more readily available. I am working on a new schedule which will be in addition to the current time of 3:30-4:00 pm on Saturday. Stay tuned!
Looking ahead, I will be away on my annual retreat August 3-7. There will not be daily Masses celebrated those days. Saturday August 8 I will be out of town for a wedding. Fr. Nicholas Weibl will be hearing 3:30 pm confessions and will be celebrating the 4:30 pm Mass. Father Weibl was my Pastor at St. Wendelin in Fostoria when I was in seminary. If you bribe him I'm sure he could tell you some stories about me!
Make it a good week! Stay happy and healthy!
Immaculate Mary, pray for us!
Father Gase
