My Dear Parishioners,
Holy Week! It's finally here. It's the pinnacle of our liturgical calendar in which we celebrate the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord. The liturgies this week are full of meaning and symbolism; however, there will be some changes this year due to the pandemic as outlined by the diocese: for Holy Thursday there will not be the washing of feet, and we will not be processing with the Blessed Sacrament around the church. On Good Friday only the priest will be physically touching the cross for veneration...all others will be simply genuflecting or bowing to the cross. The Easter Vigil will also look much different: we will not be gathering outside for the fire and the church will not be in darkness at the start of Mass. This will certainly result in a much, much shorter Easter Vigil Mass this year!
Regarding the Easter Sunday Masses, we will have extra chairs set up and the church basement will be set up to accommodate overflow.
Let's pray that next year we will be back to normal!
