Weekly Message from Father Gase

June 26, 2021

My Dear Parishioners,

This weekend as a diocese we are celebrating the ordination of two young men to the priesthood: Fr. Albert Beltz and Fr. Joseph Mominee were ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Thomas at the cathedral on Saturday June 26. Please join me in saying a prayer of thanksgiving for the "yes" of these two men who answered the call of Christ and have laid down their lives in an extraordinary way. May the Lord bless them as they begin their priestly ministry! I can personally attest that it is a wonderful life. It certainly has its challenges just like any other vocation, but the rewards and blessings are abundant. You never know -one of these two men could be the pastor here someday!

You may have noticed that I have been trying to gently encourage folks to donate to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Among several other important ministries of the diocese, these funds directly support the education and formation of our seminarians. Our seminarians are literally our future priests! If you have not given, please consider doing so. All gifts are appreciated!

This is also the time of year when many priests are preparing to move on to new assignments. Two of our neighboring parishes are affected this year: Fr. Ron Schock will be leaving Monroeville and Peru in order to become the pastor in Leipsic and Fr. Ed Schleter will be stepping aside as the parish chaplain in Clyde. Fr. Chris Jesudhason will be the new pastor in Monroeville and Peru while Fr. Chris Kardzis at Sacred Heart in Fremont will be the new parish chaplain in Clyde in addition to his current responsibilities.

May the Lord bless our priests and keep them faithful to His Sacred Heart!

Father Gase
